Shake On The Block
Free Summer workshop
This workshop will help young writers discover the magic, fun and some would say craziness of the immortal bard through play-writing, adaptation and performance. In 2018 students broke down Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which they then adapted for performance by adding street slang and modern English. Students were introduced to the rudiments of the theater making process and develop skills in acting, memorization, adaptation, staging and performance while using their imaginations to create cool, dynamic new characters based on Shakespeare’s writing. The workshop culminated in a final performance at The Williamsburg Library in Williamsburg that was free and open to the public.
