POET’S CORNER

The Poet’s Corner is a FREE workshop meant to empower participants to write creatively with different styles of poetry and structures.

The program aims to create a nurturing space for emerging poets and writers to document their own stories and emotions. Writers create unique pieces at every workshop and are encouraged to participate in an open mic session at the end of that same session.

INAGURAL POET-IN-RESIDENCE

We are proud to announce that our inaugural Poet-In-Residence for 2026/7 will be Roya Marsh.

Described by GLAAD as “a commanding voice in contemporary poetry”, Bronx native Roya Marsh is a multi-award winning poet, performer, educator, and activist who works feverishly toward Queer liberation and dismantling white supremacy. Her widely featured work constantly focuses on uplifting the voices of marginalized communities, and is therefore firmly aligned with ¡OYE! Group’s continuing mission. We look forward to supporting and collaborating with her in the upcoming year.

As a Poet-In-Residence, Roya Marsh will be curating ¡OYE!’s Poet’s Corner program, a free community centered poetry workshop series that aims to create a nurturing space for emerging poets and writers to document their own stories and emotions. Led by prominent poet-instructors each month, Poet’s Corner participants create unique pieces at every workshop and are encouraged to participate in an open mic session at the end of that same session.
¡OYE!’s Poet-In-Residence will also be receiving developmental and directorial support from Oye’s Development Manager and Artistic Director respectively.
